You may recall that Paco came to us (only) a week ago as an unknown foster for Bell’Anima Rescue, and here he is already graduating from his “Adjustment and Adoption Evaluation” process.
He passed all his tests with flying colors and is eager to meet his new human/s

Perfect score. No accidents or marking behavior
Perfect score. No interest in “human” objects
Perfect score. Releases high value objects to human hand with no avoidance, resistance, or tugging. Does not steal, compete with, or defend toys from other dogs.
Average score. He is food motivated and displays a slight obsession. Maintains fixed eye contact with food but is very responsive to “stay” and “leave it” commands.
Food can be removed while he is eating and put back while he waits patiently at a respectful distance from bowl and hands and without being asked to back away. Does not guard food from other dogs.
Does not approach or attempt to steal food from low tables, but will stare at it and cannot be trusted unsupervised if food is left on the ground. Working with foster on diminishing food fixation to a perfect score.
Average score. Can get fixated with a toy in his mouth and can bite down hard on hands, but is very responsive to human reaction and corrects himself immediately. Working with foster on 100% soft mouth.
Average score. Sensitive to noise and movement and prone to barking and howling (extremely normal for a Beagle), but very responsive to verbal correction and stops behavior within 2-3 barks. Working with foster on noise and movement tolerance.
Low score. He gets anxious and frustrated easily but at rapidly diminishing rate. Whines and fixates at closed doors or far away objects and people when standing still on the street.
Whines and or barks if line of sight with human is broken, but does not escalate. Gives into a silent but agitated state after a minute or two. Working with foster (with quick results) towards a calm and patient waiting state.
Perfect score. Does not get overexcited and has a cool and composed demeanor at all times including when people come into the house or get ready for walks.
Perfect score. Completely comfortable with every type of touch and handling from petting to picking up, bathing, ear cleaning, paw handling, nail clipping, etc. Displays no aversion, avoidance or aggression.
Average score. Will initiate and hold eye contact on his own. Responds to solicited eye contact (calling his name or attention grabbing noises from human) only part of the time, but quickly improving. Working with foster on 100% reliable attention and eye contact.
Perfect score. Greets all humans, including children, politely and looses interest quickly.
Above average score. He displays no fear of any kind and under any circumstance either indoors or outside.
His rare moments of hesitation are due to being observant and attentive to his new rules and environment to which he is still adjusting.

Medical History: Perfect bill of health. Neutered. Vaccinated and de-wormed on Feb 5th 2014
Conclusion
Pros: He is a very gentle and polite dog with a strong attention span and extremely responsive to teaching and management. He is low energy, non-intrusive, very tolerant and affectionate.
Cons: His hunting drive is very strong and has not been managed well in the past. He is noise, sent and movement triggered, which can overpower his senses when outside and needs to be worked on.
Perfect Score. Comes when called, slowly but reliably.
Low score. Comes running if not too distracted by other noises or smells. Not resistant to coming, but rather easily absorbed elsewhere. Working with foster on 100% reliable recall.
Low score. Cannot be off leash in unenclosed areas at the moment, but can easily be though after reliable recall is achieved.
Average score. Came with extremely poor leash habits and executive pulling. Within 2 days was almost perfect at walking on slack leash, but is not yet consistent and needs continued training. Working with foster on 100% consistent slack leash walking.
Perfect score. Interested in other dogs, runs and plays occasionally but more of a loner than a social butterfly.
Perfect score. Meets new dogs politely, then tends to ignore them. Tolerates overexcited dogs and large number of dogs interacting with him very well, and occasionally exhibits interest in group or individual play.
Average score. Came with no exit and entrance habits and obsessive bolting, but within 2 days was very easy to command and control verbally.
Understands that he needs to wait, but not reliable to do it on his own. Working with foster on being 100% reliable around open doors.
Perfect score. Very polite with humans, no jumping or unsolicited physical contact of any kind.
Perfect score. Lays near humans, curled up on the couch or at their feet and touching, but never overbearing or intrusive. Prefers to sleep or lay on his own in remote areas most of the time.
When near humans, has no aversion to being moved, leaned against or hugged, and turns his belly for scratches and massage if initiated by the human.
Above average score. He needs tough bones and toys. He loves to rip apart toys and dog bones, but never touches objects that were not given to him.
When he first came from the pound, he was able to destroy extremely tough rubber toys like kongs, however after several days of regular long walks and exercise he is less intense and looses interest quickly.
Loves balls and will toss and chase them around the house by himself, but will inevitably settle down to chew them.
Not a “playful” dog, very mellow.
